Public Safety Building Opens Monday
Other Committee · Meeting of March 18, 2026
Middleton's public safety building reaches substantial completion, move-in set for Monday. The Building Committee heard from construction manager W.T. Rich that only one egress item remains before a certificate of occupancy, with building commissioner Scott expected to sign off Friday.
Members unanimously recommended the Select Board approve $19,000 and $2,300 contract amendments to architect Context, a $1,784,936 construction payment, and a $374,575 change order, the bulk of it $272,784 in extended general conditions. PCA 360's Alex Bousis reported Comcast and the state voting system are operational, with Verizon about three weeks out. Committee member Twist pushed for more parking, warning "take election day," while town official Justin Stalsbach urged the committee not to overbuild, calling the project "pretty rare for a community" to fund.
The project has spent $61,133,715, or 82 percent of budget.
