Middleton panel approves $406K construction payment
Other Committee · Meeting of July 22, 2026
Middleton Building Committee keeps a veteran construction supervisor and clears $406,496 payment. Members voted unanimously to recommend construction requisition #25, worth $406,496, and an $80,380 bundled change order to the Select Board. The panel's longest debate centered on WT Rich staffing: after members argued assistant superintendent Derek's hands-on knowledge, including an unresolved vault issue, was worth the cost, the committee authorized up to $150,000, rather than an initial $125,765 ask, to keep him on roughly another month.
"Derek has absolutely been a rock star in the project," said Brian, the project's owner's project manager representative. Members also approved $27,832 to replace apparatus-bay door sensors and an $8,000 amendment to traffic engineer GPI's contract, while forecasting the project's uncommitted contingency and expected credits could return "well over" $4 million to the town.
