Library Board Hires New Director, OKs Capital Funds
Library Board · Meeting of March 18, 2026
Middleton library trustees hire new director, brace for a $5,300 consortium fee hike. The Library Board of Trustees unanimously approved Olivia Gaddy's contract as the Flint Public Library's next director, effective March 30, after a private negotiating session. The board also heard from Merrimack Valley Library Consortium representative Patty that Middleton's fiscal 2027 assessment will rise to $41,242, roughly $5,300 more than this year, after the network eliminated a decade-old 5 percent cap on member fee increases.
Trustee Costa pressed for detail on how the consortium values interlibrary loans, and several members said the network's director-led governance shouldn't set financial terms for towns. Separately, trustees voted to pull $12,200 from state aid funds for an air conditioning condenser and light fixture repairs ahead of a $165,000 generator and septic project headed to the May 12 Annual Town Meeting.
