Middleton Building Committee clears $630K in project costs ahead of Saturday's ribbon cutting. The panel unanimously recommended payment requisition No. 27 for $598,187 and change order 22 for $32,155 to the Select Board for the municipal campus project, which has spent about 93 percent of its budget with just under $1.9 million remaining uncommitted. Project representative Brian projected a net $4 million credit once a roughly $1.6 million contingency refund from contractor W.T.
Rich is weighed against ongoing cost-sharing talks with the Middleton Electric Light Department. Member Frank raised hanging memorial bunting on the new buildings after the death of Officer Robert Smith, saying "we do not have the ability to appropriately hang bunting" under current construction. An unresolved sidewalk ramp safety issue on Route 114, flagged by Commissioner Fitzpatrick, is still delaying full occupancy of the new public safety building.
