Planning Board · Meeting of August 12, 2026

Middleton Planning Board recommends Ferncroft parking cuts despite internal doubts. Planning Director Anna Bury Carmer told the board a 40B applicant at 35 Village Road wants to reduce required parking at the adjacent Ferncroft Corporate Center from 1,173 spaces to 910, sharing 232 of the residential project's 300 spaces with the office building. One member warned "they're getting rid of parking spots and getting rid of the landscape," while another cautioned that a shift in office hours could leave residents without a spot.

The board still voted unanimously for a positive recommendation to the Zoning Board of Appeals, which opens its hearing September 3. Elsewhere, attorney Jill Mann secured tripartite surety extensions into 2027 for the long-running East Meadow Lane and Kuchar Way subdivisions, and the board recommended electronic gas-price signage for a new Maple Street package store, comparing it to existing signs at Richdale, Cumberland Farms and Fast Freddy's.
